Our Designers Top Color Picks For Summer Are Sunset-Inspired

Summer is so close, we can feel it. And we get it, summer means different things to different people when it comes to the warmer weather. Our Austin team knows hot humid days and a lot of A/C are ahead. Meanwhile at our Hartford Studio and at our northern satellite offices, the streets surrounding us are alive with live music, people, and flower planters again. Summer’s intensity plays differently up there. But no matter where you live, a summer phenomenon that lands just about everywhere is picture perfect sunsets.

We’re talking about the kind of sunsets that warm your soul and rejuvenate your senses. The sunsets that create the perfect backdrop to enjoy your feet up in the backyard, or relax into a comfy chair at your favorite BBQ spot downtown. The ones that start with just a glow. Then as the laughs, smiles, good conversation, and time roll forward the sunset intensifies. So much so that you stop what you’re doing, or saying, and just exist. You’re taking it in, and the colors deepen until a golden glow and reddish pink blend into each other. Life is good.

OUR PICKS FOR SUMMER ARE THE PERFECT BLEND OF WARMTH AND VIBRANCY.

“Nothing says summer like a warm yellow with a red and pink sunset color. To me, these colors mimic the summer sunsets,” said Infinity Group Workplace Designer Olivia Powers.

GOLDEN HOUR

“We chose Clare Paint’s Golden Hour because this color has the lift of a good yellow but the sophistication of a deeper golden hue,” said Infinity Group Director of Design Laura Tremko.

“We all know that the real golden hour on summer nights is the best time to snap photos. Two words. The lighting! It reminds me of where I grew up, summer evenings with family on the Connecticut shoreline,” said Olivia.

LAKE RED

Meanwhile, when we needed a creative solution to add a whole lot of color to the XMONDO headquarters near New York City, a tone similar to Lake Red was perfect. The columns in the center of this open space were black steel, and chains in the reddish pink color were up to the task.

Lake Red as a paint color is found in Farrow and Ball’s Colour by nature palette, created to bring the outdoors inside. This tone fits incredibility well with Infinity Group’s big picture objectives as well. Our design team works to incorporate nature into the built environments we create for our clients to enhance wellness. You can read more about our wellness-focused design approach here.

“This color is likely too overpowering for many of our corporate clients, but any company or organization could find a place for it in a café or as an accent color in your furniture selections,” said Laura.

“If you’ve seen a Texas sunset, you’ve seen this hue. I’m loving these warm summer colors because sunsets are universal and unifying. Where I grew up in Colorado, big wide-open skies means gorgeous sunsets. Since arriving in Austin, I’ve loved seeing these same vibrant sunset colors in a brand new city and foreground setting. These colors feel like home, “ said Kaley Slater, Infinity Group Workplace Designer.
