DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SENIOR PROJECT LEAD AT INFINITY GROUP

What’s it like to be a Senior Project Lead at a commercial design-led build company?

We follow along for a day with Austin-based Infinity Group Senior Project Lead Brian Burbine. And we quickly learned that there’s no such thing as a typical day on commercial interior construction sites. You can hear from Brian in his own words in this video we created with him.

“I like getting to know the trades that I’m going to see on a regular basis and building those relationships with people,” said Burbine.

Brian starts his day early.

He makes coffee and heads out the door and hits the road before the sun is even up. Brian lives in a city about 45 miles south of Austin called New Braunfels. He said his day actually starts the day before.

“The night before I take notes and look ahead for what the day is going to bring. What calls I need to return, what calls I have to make. Basically, set my mind frame up for the next day,” said Burbine.

He organizes his day.

Once he gets to Austin and parks, he gets caught up before getting into the Infinity Group job site.

“Before I go in there, I hop on my laptop, so I go through PMP (Infinity Group’s Project Management Platform), take care of any late tasks, check emails from the night before,” said Burbine.

So what is an Infinity Group construction site like?

“If you were to walk in off the street, you would see organized chaos essentially. You would see a bunch of different trades on site, trying to occupy the same space,” said Burbine.

Brian talks to trades, organizes their day, and checks in about what they’re working on. We’re talking about electricians, framers, painters, cabinet makers, and more.

“I can tell you for sure that working this job, nothing is ever the same,” said Burbine.

He also trains and mentors.

As a Senior Project Lead at Infinity Group, Brian also helps train new Project Leads so they can manage their own projects.

“I guess that’s why I like dishes at home, because you do a task and you do it to completion,” said Burbine.

Brian says one of the best parts of his job is seeing construction plans come to life, and working with all of the trades to get the job done right.

“Just like our whole motto is Make Work Beautiful, all the trades work in harmony to make this place great,” said Burbine.
